2022 was a memorable year for Indian cinema. Theatres returned to normalcy with unconventional, engaging and entertaining content. Veteran superstars and promising youngsters ruled cinema halls and received claps and whistles for quality work and successful experiments.

From Anupam Kher's gut-wrenching act in The Kashmir Files, Jr NTR-Ram Charan's spectacular show in RRR to Ajay Devgn's return as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 2 to Kartik Aaryan's scene-stealing performance in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, we saw a range of brilliant performances by actors in films.

As we begin to bid adieu to the year, let's take out a moment to appreciate phenomenal performances by our male actors in films released in theatres over these 12 months.

Anupam Kher-The Kashmir Files

Anupam Kher, a Kashmiri Pandit himself, channeled the inner pain, suffering, and injustice that the community had to go through. His character Pushkernath was a medium to tell the story of the community and the actor delivered an unmatched performance.

Jr NTR- RRR

Jr. NTR got some of the most spectacular scenes in SS Rajamouli's RRR. As Bheem, he pulled off a more physically and emotionally challenging role flawlessly. Be it understanding the emotional depth of the character to translating it on screen, he brought Bheem alive on the big screen.

Ram Charan-RRR

Ram Charan's brawny avatar in RRR was something nobody was prepared for. In a film that majorly relied on his character Ramaraju, the actor painted a flawless picture of bravery, action, romance, and passion. His physical transformation for the thundering climax was noteworthy.

Ranveer Singh-Jayeshbhai Jordaar

Ranveer Singh was a true firecracker in Jayeshbhai Jordaar. He was high on energy and charm in Divyang Thakkar's Bollywood directorial debut. The actor played the titular role and fought female foeticide in the film.

Kartik Aaryan- Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Kartik Aaryan broke the notion that he fits best only in the romantic genre. Stepping out of his preconceived image of a lover boy, the actor explored the comedy and horror genre with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and the result was a blockbuster. The pre-climax sequence picturised on Kartik was a winner.

Anil Kapoor-Jug Jugg Jeeyo

Anil Kapoor made you love to hate his character Bheem in Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The veteran actor completed 39 years in the film industry and his experience reflected in the family entertainer. Taking the centre stage, he brought out maximum laughs.

R Madhavan-Rocketry

A one-man army, R Madhavan immortalised Dr. Nambi Narayanan on the silver screen with his near-perfect portrayal of the aerospace engineer. Imbibing his self-esteem, determination, and willpower in himself, Madhavan, not even for a second made us believe that he was an actor and not an aerospace engineer.

DQ Salmaan-Sita Ramam

Dulquer Salmaan in a period drama? Doesn't it sound like a dream? Sita Ramam was like a dream come true for many. As always, DQ charmed his way into his fans' hearts with his flawless act as Lieutenant Ram. Can we see him in more period romantic dramas, please?

Akshay Kumar- Ram Setu

Akshay Kumar starred in as many as 5 films this year but out of them, Ram Setu was a standout due to the concept it explored. Akshay was seen in a different and unique character. He played an archaeologist who went on an expedition to unearth the mystery behind Ram Setu.

Ajay Devgn- Drishyam 2

There could have been no better actor than Ajay to play the role of Vijay Salgaonkar. Trust him to win you over with his deep, expressive eyes even when his dialogues are to the bare minimum. Setting a new benchmark, the actor delivered a rock-solid performance.

Varun Dhawan- Bhediya

If you ever wondered whether the charming, good-looking Varun Dhawan can scare us, then Bhediya should be the right watch for you. The actor channeled his inner Bhediya and delivered a thundering performance. The scene where he transformed into a werewolf was simply outstanding.
